Subaru Outback ABS Warning Light Malaysia
An ABS warning light on the Subaru Outback typically points to a faulty wheel speed sensor, wiring issue, or ABS module fault. Given the Outback's Symmetrical AWD and VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) system, the ABS, traction control, and AWD systems are closely integrated — an ABS fault can affect all three. Wheel speed sensors on the Outback can be damaged by debris or corrosion, especially on rear wheels. A Subaru-compatible scanner is needed to pinpoint which wheel sensor or circuit is at fault before replacing components.

Subaru Outback ABS Warning Light
- Outback ABS and VDC: same WSS-based system; heavy wagon means ABS works harder in emergency stops; wheel bearing failure on Outback can also trigger ABS light (bearing-integrated tone ring damaged)
- Outback wheel bearing and ABS: Outback front wheel bearings at 120,000+ km can develop noise and ABS faults simultaneously; diagnose — ABS code shows which corner; wheel bearing play check on same corner confirms bearing involvement; replace bearing resolves both
- Outback ABS module: ABS module (ABSCM) failure is less common than WSS; if all 4 WSS show correct data but ABS light persists — suspect ABSCM; module replacement or rebuild required; SSM4 confirms ABSCM fault code vs WSS fault code
