The X70 1.8T TGDI is a turbocharged direct injection engine — fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder, bypassing the intake valves. This means nothing cleans the valves on each cycle. Carbon deposits build up over time, restricting airflow and causing rough idle, hesitation, and power loss. Walnut blasting (media blasting through the intake) is the gold standard fix.
