The ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) warning light means the system has detected a fault and has disabled itself. Your brakes still work — but you lose the anti-lock function that prevents wheel lock-up during emergency stops. Common causes of ABS light

• •Wheel speed sensor fault (most common) — sensor dirty, damaged, or failed
• •ABS reluctor ring (tone ring) damaged — the toothed ring that the sensor reads
• •Low brake fluid level triggering combined ABS/brake warning
• •ABS pump or control module fault — less common but more expensive to fix
• •Corroded or broken wiring to wheel speed sensors — common on older cars

Diagnosis and repair cost

Wheel speed sensor replacement: RM 150–400 per corner including the sensor and labour. ABS reluctor ring: RM 80–250 per wheel. The control module is expensive — RM 800–2,500 for most cars — but module faults are the minority of ABS issues.
