The 100,000 km service (commonly called the '100k service') is a major milestone for any car. By this point, a number of wear items reach the end of their designed lifespan simultaneously. Getting the service right saves you from multiple failures in the following 50,000 km.
What the 100k service should include
- •Engine oil & filter — fresh full synthetic with correct spec for your engine
- •Spark plugs — iridium or platinum plugs are due by 80,000–100,000 km
- •Air filter (engine and cabin) — both typically due at this interval
- •Coolant flush — glycol breaks down over 2–3 years, causing internal corrosion
- •Brake fluid — hygroscopic fluid absorbs moisture, lowering boil point
- •Transmission fluid (if auto) — ATF degrades and causes shift quality issues
- •Drive belts inspection — timing belt replacement if due (critical!)
- •Tyre rotation and alignment check
