Real cases from our Bandar Sri Damansara workshop: (1) T32 100,000 km — coolant loss, found hairline crack at radiator lower tank, radiator replaced, no further overheating. (2) T32 90,000 km — CVT shudder on acceleration, NS-3 fluid changed (was dark brown), shudder resolved after 500 km run-in. (3) T33 45,000 km — P0299 turbo underboost, intercooler outlet hose clip had loosened, re-clipped and resealed, boost restored. (4) T32 110,000 km — grinding front left on corners, outer CV joint boot torn for unknown period, CV joint replaced.
X-Trail T32 Radiator-CVT Coolant Contamination Fix — Sri Damansara
A 2016 X-Trail T32 at 78,000 km arrived with CVT slipping and a faint sweet smell from the engine bay. Inspection revealed the plastic radiator end-tank had cracked, allowing coolant to enter the CVT via the integrated cooler. The CVT fluid was visibly contaminated — pinkish and foamy. Action: full radiator replacement, CVT flush with three drain-and-fill cycles using Nissan NS-2, and road test confirmation. The owner was advised to inspect CVT fluid colour every 10,000 km going forward.
