Nissan X-Trail CVT Fluid Malaysia — NS-3 Guide
CVT fluid is the most critical service item on the X-Trail. Use Nissan NS-3 only — generic ATF causes CVT shudder and accelerates belt wear. Change every 40,000 km. T32 CVT capacity: approx 7–8L for a full drain-and-fill. T33 also uses NS-3. Signs of CVT trouble: shudder at 40–60 km/h, hesitation on takeoff, high-pitched whine. CVT replacement is extremely expensive — prevention through timely NS-3 changes is the only sensible strategy.
X-Trail CVT Fluid Maintenance
T32 X-Trail uses Jatco JF015E or JF016E CVT — use only Nissan NS-3 or NS-2 compatible fluid. Critical: if you notice the radiator has a coolant-CVT mix issue, do not just change the CVT fluid — the radiator must be replaced first, then flush and refill the CVT. Running contaminated fluid even briefly will damage the CVT internals.
