Throttle body cleaning is one of the most impactful services on the Latio HR15DE at 60,000–80,000 km. Carbon deposits from blow-by gases reduce the throttle opening area, causing rough idle, low-speed hesitation, and occasional stalling. Cleaning method: spray-based cleaning without removal is effective for moderate buildup; full removal and chemical cleaning for heavy deposits. Always perform idle relearn/throttle relearn procedure after cleaning to reset the ECU's idle adaptation values.
The throttle body controls how much air enters the engine. Over time — typically 40,000–80,000 km — a sticky carbon deposit builds up inside the throttle bore and on the butterfly valve. In Malaysia, this causes rough idle at traffic lights, stalling when cold, and sluggish response when you first press the accelerator.

How throttle cleaning works — and what it costs
The throttle body is removed (or cleaned in-situ on some models), sprayed with throttle body cleaner to dissolve carbon, then wiped clean. On electronic throttle bodies (drive-by-wire), the ECU idle calibration must be reset afterwards.
