Mercedes-Benz GLA Timing Chain Guide Malaysia — M270/M260/M264
X156 GLA M270 has a moderate timing chain concern at high mileage. H247 M260 and M264 engines are more refined. Using correct MB-spec oil at every service interval is the key preventive measure.
Same timing chain design as A-Class and CLA — no belt. M270/M260/M264 all use chains with hydraulic tensioners. Cold-start rattle in the first 5 seconds is the warning sign. Correct oil and on-time oil changes are the primary prevention.
