Alternator diagnosis and cost
Test at idle: 13.8–14.4V. If the battery is new but discharging quickly, test the alternator — a failing diode can drain the battery even with the engine off. Remanufactured alternator: RM400–620. New OEM-spec: RM750–1,100. Always test both battery and alternator together.
