Cold-Start Rattle — Act Fast
A cold-start timing chain rattle lasting more than 1–2 seconds on the X7's N20 engine is a critical warning sign. The stretched chain can jump a tooth and cause catastrophic valve/piston contact damage — a potential engine write-off. If you hear a rattle, stop using the engine until ISTA has confirmed the chain's health via camshaft correlation codes (P0016/P0017).
