X7 requires AGM — 105–110Ah. Battery in boot floor. ISTA IBS registration mandatory. Largest BMW electrical load: air suspension ECU, xDrive, 7-seat climate zones, panoramic roof, active suspension. Without ISTA registration multiple systems fault. Malaysia installed RM 1,000–1,600.

AGM Battery Registration — Critical Step
Never skip ISTA battery registration after replacing the X7's AGM battery. Without registration, the DME continues charging the new battery at the old battery's degraded profile — this overcharges and destroys a new AGM within 6–12 months. Registration takes 5 minutes via ISTA and resets the charging algorithm. Also note: in Malaysia's stop-start city driving, a X7 with a weak battery often strands owners in carparks or toll plazas — battery health check is included in every 4M Car Care service.
