Front pads 40,000–60,000 km; rear 50,000–70,000 km — heavier than X3, wears pads faster. M40i large calipers: OEM pads RM 400–700/axle. Standard xDrive30i pads RM 280–450/axle. CBS brake sensor. Electronic rear caliper — ISTA EPB retraction for rear pads. Malaysia all-in RM 500–900/axle.

City Driving and Brake Wear in Malaysia
Stop-and-go traffic in KL, PJ and Johor Bahru wears brake pads 30–40% faster than highway driving. The X4's front pads bear most of the braking load in city conditions. CBS brake pad monitoring uses a wire sensor, but in city driving the sensor can trigger before the pads are actually at minimum — check actual pad thickness at every service. Rear EPB calipers require ISTA for piston retraction during pad replacement.
