BMW X3 Common Problems Malaysia — F25/G01

F25 X3 Known Issues
- N20 xDrive28i: same timing chain risk as F30/F10 — cold-start rattle = walk away
- xDrive transfer case: whine at high speed = bearing or fluid issue
- Front differential: fluid change neglected on most used X3s in Malaysia
- DSC module: can fail on F25 — steering pulls under braking
G01 X3 Key Watch Points
The G01 X3 xDrive30i uses the B48 — a far more reliable engine than the F25's N20. The main concerns are the all-electric water pump (same risk as G20/G30), EGR cooler, and the xDrive system fluid maintenance. The G01 X3 M40i with B58 is the performance variant — the B58 is robust but benefits from 10,000 km oil intervals to prevent VANOS wear.
