xDrive Electrical Load
The xDrive system uses an electromagnetic clutch that constantly draws power from the alternator and battery. This additional electrical load means the X3 battery works harder than on a rear-wheel-drive model. Expect battery life of 3–5 years in Malaysia. Annual ISTA battery health checks are recommended, particularly after the battery passes 3 years old.
