2 Series CBS tracks oil, brake fluid, brake pads, vehicle check, microfilter. Reset each via ISTA or iDrive after service. M240i sporty use: oil CBS often expires before 10,000 km — reset at 8,000 km regardless. Malaysia ISTA reset RM 80–120.
2 Series CBS Reset
- CBS (Condition Based Service) monitors oil quality, brake wear, coolant, brake fluid age
- Manual CBS reset via instrument cluster: Settings > Service > Reset (varies by model year)
- Preferred: ISTA reset — more accurate and logs the service in BMW's system
CBS Covers Less Than You Think
BMW's CBS monitors engine oil, brake pads, brake fluid, coolant age, and spark plugs. It does NOT monitor: automatic transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, differential fluid, or air suspension fluid. Many 2 Series owners discover overdue drivetrain fluids only at 80,000+ km when symptoms appear.
