BMW 2 Series Carbon Cleaning Malaysia
N20, N55 and B48 are all direct injection — carbon builds up on intake valves at 60,000–80,000 km. N55 M240i 6-cyl: more ports to blast, RM 700–1,200. N20/B48 4-cyl: RM 600–1,000. Short city trips accelerate buildup. Walnut shell blast every 80,000 km recommended for all 2 Series variants.

2 Series Carbon Buildup
- B38/B48/N20 are all direct injection — no fuel washing of intake valves, carbon builds up over time
- Symptoms at 60,000–80,000 km: rough idle, hesitation, reduced power
- Solution: walnut blasting — RM 550–750 for B38 (3 ports), RM 650–850 for B48/N20 (4 ports)
Walnut Blasting in Malaysia — When and Why
Direct-injection engines like the B38/B48 (F45/F46) or N20 (F22 Coupe) in the 2 Series cannot clean intake valves with fuel the way port-injected engines do. Carbon accumulates on the back of intake valves — typically 3–5mm thick by 80,000 km of KL city driving. Symptoms: rough idle, hesitation at low RPM, reduced fuel economy. Walnut blasting (media blasting with crushed walnut shells) removes the deposits without disassembling the head. At 4M Car Care this is done with the engine at operating temperature for best results.
