Hygroscopic Fluid in Humid Malaysia
Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air (hygroscopic), and Malaysia's humidity accelerates this process. As water content rises, the boiling point of the fluid drops — during hard braking on highways or downhill (Gombak toll, Karak Highway), boiling fluid causes vapour lock and brake fade. The 2 Series's DOT 4 LV spec fluid should be changed every 2 years without exception. ISTA can read stored brake pedal travel data to detect if a spongy pedal event has occurred.
