Toyota Vios NCP150/NSP151 (2013–2021) Polymann Bushing Upgrade — Front Lower Arm, Stabilizer Bar, Steering Rack, Satay Bushing & Rear Axle

The Toyota Vios NCP150 and NSP151 — produced from 2013 to 2021 — is one of the highest-volume cars on Malaysian roads. It is reliable, affordable and easy to maintain. But it is also a car that sees very high mileage in Malaysian conditions: city stop-start traffic, highway commutes, and the occasional loaded trip. By the time a Vios reaches 80,000 to 100,000 km, its suspension rubber bushings have usually taken a significant beating — and the car starts to feel noticeably different from when it was new.

PPPB 35834 — Front Lower Arm Bushing Kit: The front lower arm is the primary suspension link on the Vios's MacPherson strut front setup. It handles all braking, cornering and acceleration forces at the front wheels. When these bushings wear, the most common symptoms are a dull knock from the front over bumps, imprecise steering, and the car feeling like it wanders slightly on the highway.

PPPB 35832 — Front Stabilizer Bar Bushing Kit: The Vios's front anti-roll bar is held to the subframe by two rubber clamp bushings. On high-mileage Vios units, these bushings crack and allow the bar to shift in its mounts, producing a knocking or rattling from the front suspension that many owners mistake for a shock absorber problem. Replacing with Polymann polyurethane bushings stops the bar movement immediately.

PPPB 35905 — Front Steering Rack Bushing Kit: This is a bushing that many Vios owners have never heard of. The steering rack — the component that translates your steering wheel input into the front wheel turning — is bolted to the subframe through rubber bushings. When these wear out, the entire rack has a small amount of unwanted movement. The result is a steering wheel that feels slightly loose or has play in the centre, and a steering response that no longer feels direct. Replacing the steering rack bushings restores the direct, connected feel between wheel and rack.

PPPB 36156 — Front Suspension / Satay Bushing Kit: The 'satay bushing' is a term used in Malaysia for the subframe mounting bushings — named because they have a bolt running through the centre like a satay skewer. These four bushings mount the entire front subframe to the car's body. When they wear, the whole subframe shifts slightly under load — which affects the geometry of every other front suspension component simultaneously. A worn satay bushing causes a deep, low-frequency thud from the front that is felt through the floor, and makes all the other suspension components feel imprecise even if they are otherwise in good condition.

PPPB 35893 — Rear Axle Bushing Kit: Like the Jazz GK, the Vios NCP150/NSP151 uses a torsion beam rear suspension. The entire rear axle beam pivots on two large bushings where it mounts to the car's body. When these wear, the rear end becomes imprecise in corners, may feel like it is following irregularities in the road rather than tracking straight, and produces a lateral thud over uneven road surfaces. The Polymann polyurethane rear axle bushings restore rear stability and eliminate this movement.

Most workshop inspections focus on the obvious wear items: shock absorbers, lower arm bushings, and the stabilizer bar. The steering rack bushings and subframe satay bushings are harder to inspect visually and are rarely flagged unless the mechanic specifically looks for them. Yet worn satay bushings affect every other front suspension component simultaneously — making new lower arm bushings feel less effective than they should. A complete bushing refresh on the Vios should always include these two locations.
