Nissan Navara NP300 (2016–2026) Polymann Bushing Upgrade — Full Front and Rear Restoration for Malaysia's Favourite Pickup

The Nissan Navara NP300 is built to work hard — a double wishbone front end for highway composure, and a solid rear axle with trailing arms for load carrying and off-road capability. Polymann covers eight bushing locations for the NP300: five at the front (upper arm, lower arm, steering rack, stabilizer bar, absorber) and three at the rear (upper trailing arm, lower trailing arm, panhard rod). 4M Carcare is an authorised installer.

Nissan Navara NP300 (2016–2026) Polymann Bushing Upgrade — Full Front and Rear Restoration for Malaysia's Favourite Pickup

The Nissan Navara NP300 — produced from 2016 to 2026 and known as the D23 in some markets — is one of the most popular pickup trucks in Malaysia. It is built to do real work: carry loads, tow, handle rough roads, and cover long distances on the highway. Its suspension layout reflects this dual purpose — a double wishbone independent front end for highway composure and steering precision, combined with a solid rear axle with coil springs, trailing arms and a panhard rod for load-carrying strength and off-road durability. With eight bushing locations across the front and rear, the Navara NP300 has more bushing points than most passenger cars. All eight are covered by Polymann.

Front suspension — 5 kits

PPPB 35865 — Front Upper Arm Bushing Kit: The Navara NP300's double wishbone front suspension uses both an upper and lower arm to control wheel movement. The upper arm is shorter and sets the camber geometry of the front wheel. Its bushings take continuous load during cornering and when the suspension compresses over off-road terrain. When they wear, camber changes under load, steering sharpness reduces, and the front end develops knock on rough surfaces.

PPPB 35866 — Front Lower Arm Bushing Kit: The lower arm is the primary structural link in the double wishbone setup — wider, heavier, and handling the majority of the cornering and braking forces transmitted from the front wheel to the chassis. The lower arm has multiple bushing points. On a pickup truck that regularly carries loads or tows, the lower arm bushings are under higher stress than on a passenger car. Worn lower arm bushings cause front-end wander, clunking under braking, and uneven front tyre wear.

PPPB 35937 — Front Steering Rack Bushing Kit: The steering rack on the Navara NP300 is mounted to the subframe through rubber bushings. These bushings isolate steering rack movement and maintain the rack's position relative to the suspension. When they wear on a pickup truck that is regularly used on rough roads, the entire steering rack develops play at its mount — introducing a looseness at the steering wheel's centre that is particularly noticeable during directional corrections on corrugated or gravel roads.

PPPB 36013 — Front Stabilizer Bar Bushing Kit: The front stabilizer bar (anti-roll bar) runs across the front of the Navara connecting both front wheels. It reduces body roll in corners and keeps the truck level. The stabilizer bar passes through two rubber bushings mounted to the chassis. When these bushings wear, the bar develops lateral play at its mount — the result is a knocking or clunking sound on uneven roads, particularly when one front wheel hits a bump independently, and increased body roll in tighter corners.

PPPB 36111 — Front Absorber Bushing Kit: The front shock absorbers are mounted at their upper and lower ends through rubber bushings. These bushings allow the absorber to articulate as the suspension moves, while isolating absorber vibrations from the chassis. On a truck used regularly over rough terrain, the absorber mounting bushings wear faster than on a passenger car. Worn absorber bushings transmit shock absorber vibration directly into the chassis, add a fine resonance to the cabin on rough roads, and can cause the absorber to knock at its mount under heavy suspension travel.

Rear suspension — 3 kits

PPPB 36254 — Rear Upper Trailing Arm (Short) Bushing Kit / Rear Lower Trailing Arm (Long) Bushing Kit: The Navara NP300's solid rear axle is located by a set of trailing arms — an upper pair (short) and a lower pair (long) — that control the fore-aft and vertical movement of the axle under acceleration, braking and load. These arms carry the substantial forces of a loaded pickup: when you're carrying a tonne in the tray or towing a trailer, the trailing arm bushings are under significant stress. Worn trailing arm bushings cause rear-end shudder under acceleration, clunking under braking, and a vague, unsettled feeling from the rear when the truck is loaded.

PPPB 36255 — Rear Panhard Rod Bushing Kit: The panhard rod (also called the track bar) runs laterally from the chassis to the rear axle, preventing the axle from moving side to side. It is the component that keeps the rear wheels centred under the truck. The panhard rod has a bushing at each end. When these bushings wear, the axle develops lateral play — the rear of the truck can feel loose or wandering during lane changes, the handling becomes unpredictable when the truck is loaded or towing, and there may be a lateral knock or thud from the rear over rough surfaces.

Why full-coverage bushing replacement matters on a working truck

The Navara NP300 is used harder than most vehicles. Whether it is carrying loads in the tray, towing machinery, navigating plantation or construction site roads, or covering long highway distances, every kilometre puts more stress on the suspension bushings than the same distance in a passenger car. When bushings wear, the effects compound: loose steering, rear wander, body roll and suspension noise all appear together. Addressing all eight bushing locations — front and rear — returns the NP300 to the confident, controlled character it had when new, whether empty on the highway or loaded on a rough track.
