Honda HR-V RU (2013–2022) Polymann Bushing Upgrade — Restoring the Compact Crossover's Handling Precision
The Honda HR-V RU is one of Malaysia's best-selling compact crossovers — practical, stylish, and trusted for daily family use. At high mileage, worn front lower arm, front stabilizer bar (23mm), and rear axle bushings are the main cause of knocking, imprecise steering, and increased body roll. Polymann covers all three positions. 4M Carcare is an authorised installer.

The Honda HR-V RU — produced from 2013 to 2022 — became one of the most popular compact crossovers in Malaysia for straightforward reasons: it offers the practicality of a higher ride height and a larger cargo area, the refinement of a Honda drivetrain, and the everyday usability of a car-based platform. Built on the same underpinnings as the Jazz GK, the HR-V sits noticeably higher than a sedan — and that height means its front suspension works harder to keep body roll in check through corners and roundabouts. At high mileage, worn front lower arm bushings, front sway bar bushings, and rear axle bushings collectively degrade the HR-V's handling precision and generate the suspension noise that owners notice appearing gradually over time.
Front suspension — 2 kits
PPPB 35854 — Front Lower Arm Bushing Kit: The HR-V uses a MacPherson strut front suspension. The front lower control arm connects to the subframe through rubber bushings at its two pivot points, and these bushings handle all lateral, longitudinal, and vertical forces passing through the front axle. When they wear, the arm develops unwanted fore-aft and lateral movement — translating to steering that feels imprecise at centre, a tendency to follow road camber rather than hold a line, and a dull knock over potholes and sharp edges. PPPB 35854 replaces the factory rubber with polyurethane that holds the arm's position precisely under the loads that the HR-V's weight and ride height generate.
PPPB 36124 — Front Stabilizer Bar Bushing Kit (23mm): The HR-V's front anti-roll bar is a 23mm unit — thicker than the bars fitted to many B-segment sedans — because the HR-V's higher centre of gravity demands more roll resistance to keep cornering behaviour predictable. The two rubber clamp bushings that locate the bar to the subframe wear and crack over time, allowing the bar to shift laterally in its clamps. When this happens, the bar produces a characteristic knock at slow speeds over speed bumps and during parking manoeuvres. On an SUV that is already prone to more body roll than a sedan, a rattling sway bar mount represents a meaningful loss of roll control. PPPB 36124 is sized for the HR-V's 23mm bar diameter.
Rear suspension — 1 kit
PPPB 35988 — Rear Axle Bushing Kit: Like the Jazz GK, the HR-V RU uses a torsion beam rear suspension. The entire rear axle beam pivots on two large bushings where it mounts to the body. These bushings absorb the rear end's lateral and vertical loads and keep the axle centred under the car. When worn, they allow the axle to shift sideways over uneven surfaces — producing a lateral thud that is felt through the seat and floor, and causing the rear end to feel imprecise through corners. Replacing both rear axle bushings with PPPB 35988 eliminates the movement and restores rear stability.
Wheel alignment after lower arm bushing replacement
After replacing the front lower arm bushings, a full wheel alignment is required. New bushings allow the lower arm to settle into its correct position, shifting camber and toe from the worn-in readings. A four-wheel alignment after installation ensures the HR-V steers straight and wears its tyres evenly — completing the front suspension restoration.
