Honda Civic FC (2016–2021) Polymann Bushing Upgrade — Complete Front and Rear Restoration for Malaysia's Most Popular Sedan
The Honda Civic FC is one of Malaysia's most popular family sedans — and one that accumulates high mileage quickly in daily use. Front lower arm and rear multi-link bushing wear are the leading causes of suspension noise, vague steering and handling degradation on high-mileage FC Civics. Polymann covers six bushing locations across the front and rear. 4M Carcare is an authorised installer.

The Honda Civic FC — the tenth generation Civic, produced from 2016 to 2021 — is one of the most commonly driven cars on Malaysian roads. It is a daily commuter for many families: school runs, highway journeys between cities, and the slow daily grind through Klang Valley traffic. The FC Civic's suspension was engineered to be light and precise when new — responsive enough to be enjoyable, compliant enough to handle Malaysian roads comfortably. As mileage accumulates, the front lower arm bushings and the rear multi-link bushings wear, and the FC starts to feel like a different car: heavier at the steering, noisier over expansion joints, and less settled at the rear.
Front suspension — 1 kit
PPPB 35926 — Front Lower Arm Bushing Kit: The FC Civic's front suspension uses a MacPherson strut layout, and the front lower arm is the key structural link between the front wheel and the subframe. The lower arm has two bushing points — a larger rear bush and a smaller front bush — that allow the arm to pivot while absorbing road loads. On a car that is driven daily through Malaysian roads, these bushings accumulate wear steadily. Worn front lower arm bushings produce the characteristic knock over road joints that FC owners often describe, a slight looseness at the steering wheel's centre, and uneven front tyre wear as the wheel geometry shifts.
Rear suspension — 5 kits
PPPB 35927 — Rear Trailing Arm Bushing Kit: The FC Civic's rear multi-link suspension uses a trailing arm to define the longitudinal position of each rear wheel. The trailing arm bushing is a large, flat-flange type that bolts directly to the body — it takes the fore-aft loads from the rear wheel under braking and acceleration. On a high-mileage daily driver, the trailing arm bushing is one of the first rear suspension components to show wear: the signs are a rear-end knock under braking, and a subtle feeling that the rear of the car is not tracking as cleanly as it once did.
PPPB 35928-A — Rear Knuckle Bushing Kit: The rear knuckle is the hub at which all rear suspension arms meet. Its bushings isolate the wheel assembly from the suspension arms and absorb fine vibrations and road texture that would otherwise transmit into the cabin. On a family sedan driven daily, worn rear knuckle bushings are a common source of the fine road noise and vibration that FC owners notice over time — the car starts to feel rougher over urban road surfaces than it did when newer.
PPPB 35928-B — Rear Lower Arm Bushing Kit: The rear lower arm is the primary lateral link in the FC's rear multi-link suspension — it sets the camber angle of the rear wheel and carries the cornering load from the rear tyre. When the rear lower arm bushings wear, rear camber shifts under cornering load, rear grip decreases, and rear tyre wear becomes uneven. The FC owner may notice the rear end feeling less planted in faster corners, or see that the rear tyres are wearing faster on one edge than the other.
PPPB 35929-A / PPPB 35929-B — Rear Toe Arm (Curve / Straight) Bushing Kit: The rear toe arm controls the toe angle of the rear wheel — how the rear wheel points relative to the direction of travel. Correct rear toe is what gives the FC its stable, predictable straight-line tracking and composed corner exit behaviour. The toe arm comes in two profiles on the FC: a curved arm (35929-A) and a straight arm (35929-B). Worn toe arm bushings allow rear toe to change under load — the rear of the car starts to wander on the highway and becomes less predictable during lane changes. If you are unsure which toe arm your FC has, we can confirm during inspection.
A note on the FC and FK8 sharing the same rear suspension
The Honda Civic FC and the Civic Type R FK8 share the same rear multi-link suspension architecture. The rear trailing arm, knuckle, lower arm and toe arm bushing kits — PPPB 35927, 35928-A, 35928-B, 35929-A and 35929-B — are the same part numbers for both vehicles. What differs is the front: the FC uses PPPB 35926 at the front lower arm, while the FK8 uses PPPB 36211. If you own both or are comparing kits, the rear positions are interchangeable between the two.
Install Polymann bushings on your FC Civic at 4M Carcare
4M Carcare is an authorised Polymann installer in Bandar Sri Damansara. We stock all six Polymann bushing kits for the Honda Civic FC and carry out full front and rear installation in-house, followed by a four-wheel alignment check. A wheel alignment is required after front lower arm bushing replacement to restore correct front geometry. WhatsApp us with your FC's mileage and what you are experiencing — suspension knock, vague steering, rear wander or uneven tyre wear — and we will advise on the right course of action.
