Audi A4 B9 (2016–2025) Polymann Front Suspension Bushing Upgrade — Upper Arm, Lower Arm & Control Arm

The Audi A4 B9 — produced from 2016 to 2025 — is one of the most popular European executive sedans in Malaysia. Its front suspension is a multi-link setup that delivers the precise, connected steering feel Audi is known for. That feeling depends heavily on the condition of the rubber bushings throughout the front suspension arms. As the car ages past 60,000 to 80,000 km, those rubber bushings begin to harden and crack — and the A4 starts to lose the sharpness that made it feel special when new.

Unlike some cars where only one bushing location wears significantly, the Audi A4 B9's front multi-link suspension has three distinct arm types — each with its own bushing set. Polymann engineers a dedicated kit for each:

PPPB 36280 — Front Upper Arm Bushing Kit: The front upper arm controls camber and links the top of the wheel hub to the subframe. Its bushings must resist both vertical forces and lateral cornering loads. When the upper arm bushings wear, camber shifts under cornering, tyre wear becomes uneven, and steering response grows imprecise.

PPPB 35845 — Front Lower Arm Bushing Kit: The front lower arm is the primary control arm managing the wheel's forward-back and lateral position. It takes on the most load during braking, cornering and acceleration. Worn lower arm bushings are the most common cause of front-end vagueness and suspension noise on the A4 B9.

PPPB 35847 — Front Control Arm Bushing Kit (74.8mm): This is the large subframe-mounted bushing at the inner pivot point of the front control arm — the biggest single bushing in the front suspension. At 74.8mm diameter, it carries enormous loads. When it deteriorates, the entire front control arm shifts slightly under load, which directly affects steering feel, toe angle, and braking stability. Note: this kit is specified for models produced after November 2009.

Steering precision returns — the wheel responds exactly to your input, with none of the slight delay or wandering that worn rubber introduces. On the A4 B9 this is especially noticeable on Malaysian highways where small corrections are needed constantly.

Cornering feels more planted — the car tracks through a corner with confidence rather than with a slight sense of the front end shifting underneath you.

Front-end knocking and thudding disappears — on rough KL roads, worn rubber bushings produce dull impacts as the arm shifts within its mount. Polyurethane holds its shape, so the noise stops.

Tyre wear evens out — consistent bushing geometry means the wheel alignment holds under cornering and braking loads, reducing premature or uneven front tyre wear.

Replacing bushings across all three front arm locations changes the geometry of the entire front suspension assembly. Even small positional differences during reassembly affect camber, toe and caster. A four-wheel alignment must always follow a full front bushing replacement — this is not optional.
