The Mitsubishi ASX CVT (Jatco JF015E or JF017E) requires Mitsubishi CVTF J1 fluid or an approved equivalent — never use conventional ATF, which will damage the CVT belt and pulley system. Fluid change interval is every 40,000 km; this is the single most important maintenance item for ASX owners. Neglecting CVT fluid leads to shudder, slipping, and eventually full CVT failure, which is an extremely expensive repair. Always use a workshop that specifies the correct CVT fluid type.
