C218 M276 V6 uses MB 229.5 (5W-30). C257 M264 2.0T uses MB 229.51 (5W-30 or 0W-30). C257 M256 3.0T inline-6 uses MB 229.6 (0W-20). Check VIN plate for exact spec — wrong oil causes variable valve timing issues.

Mercedes Engine Oil Grade — Malaysia
Mercedes-Benz engines require MB 229.51 (5W-30 fully synthetic) for petrol engines on modern models — do not substitute with non-MB-spec oil. The M271 1.8T W204 uses MB 229.3 (5W-40). G-Class 4.0L V8 biturbo requires 0W-40 MB 229.5 or 229.51. Using non-spec oil shortens the timing chain tensioner life and may void warranty claims. Change every 10,000–15,000 km per ASSYST — but in Malaysian city conditions, 10,000 km is the recommended maximum.
