Case 1: Mazda 3 BP 2.0L — Carbon + ATF (78,000 km)
Mazda 3 BP 2.0L, 78,000 km: came for oil service, owner complained of slight hesitation on acceleration. OBD: no faults. Carbon inspection: heavy buildup on all 4 intake valves. ATF fluid dark (never changed). Combined: walnut blast (RM 1,050) + ATF FZ (RM 380). Post-service: throttle sharp and immediate, shifts smooth from cold. Owner now on 40,000 km ATF and 80,000 km carbon schedule. Total: RM 1,430 + oil service.
Case 2: Mazda 3 BM 2.0L — AT Harsh Shift (95,000 km)
Mazda 3 BM 2.0L, 95,000 km: owner reported bang when engaging D from P, occasional harsh 1-2 shift. ATF never changed since new. ATF FZ (RM 380): shifts improved ~70%. Carbon blast done same visit (RM 1,000). Total: RM 1,380. Lesson: 95,000 km original ATF caused clutch pack glazing — fluid saved the gearbox from full rebuild (RM 6,000–10,000).
