Mazda CX-90 Headlight Malaysia
CX-90 Malaysia: adaptive LED headlights standard. PDLS+ (Mazda's dynamic cornering light) included on premium variants. No halogen option — all LED. Polycarbonate lens protection coating: Malaysia UV causes yellowing at 5–7 years even on premium vehicles. Lens restore or clear protective film recommended. Headlight washers (standard on some variants): maintain nozzle function for proper AEB performance. Headlight replacement if damaged: dealer assembly replacement — expensive due to adaptive LED unit cost.

Many Malaysian cars — especially models from 2010–2020 — came with dim halogen headlights that struggle in heavy rain or on unlit roads at night. Upgrading to LED or HID gives a significant improvement in visibility and road safety.
Upgrade options in Malaysia
- LED bulb replacement (direct swap) — fits existing halogen projector or reflector housing. Easy, affordable, reversible. Quality brands: Philips, Osram, Hella. Cost: RM 150–500 per pair installed.
- HID (Xenon) retrofit — higher brightness than LED on older reflector housings. Requires ballast. Cost: RM 300–700 installed. Needs proper beam alignment.
- Projector housing upgrade — replace the entire headlight assembly with projector units for a cleaner beam cutoff. Best light quality but most expensive: RM 800–3,000 per side.
Legal and practical considerations
In Malaysia, JPJ regulations state that headlight colour must be white or yellow (not blue). Ultra-blue HID bulbs (above 6,000K colour temperature) are technically illegal. Stick to 4,300K–6,000K for a clean white that avoids scrutiny.
Most importantly: always aim the headlights correctly after any bulb change. Poorly aimed lights blind oncoming traffic and reduce your own visibility. 4M Car Care adjusts headlight aim as part of all headlight services.
