Case 1: CX-5 KF 2.5L AWD — AT Shudder + AWD Fluid (62,000 km)
CX-5 KF 2.5L AWD 2018, 62,000 km: shudder on light throttle 40–60 km/h. OBD: no faults. ATF FZ and AWD diff fluid both original. ATF FZ drain-and-fill (RM 400) + AWD diff (RM 250) + TSB recalibration. Shudder gone after service. Owner relieved — had quoted torque converter replacement at another workshop (RM 3,800). Fluid was the fix. Total: RM 650 + oil.
Case 2: CX-5 KF 2.0L FWD — Carbon (82,000 km)
CX-5 KF 2.0L FWD, 82,000 km: P0300 random misfire code, rough idle from cold. Carbon inspection: severe buildup, two intake valves almost closed. Walnut blast (RM 1,000). Post-clean: P0300 resolved, idle smooth, owner reported +1–2 L/100km fuel economy improvement. Total: RM 1,000 + oil service.
