Audi Audi A5 Rocker Cover Gasket Malaysia
The Audi A5 8T (2008–2016) and B9 (2017+) share the same EA888 TFSI platform as the A4.
The rocker cover gasket (also called valve cover gasket) seals the top of the engine, preventing oil from leaking out around the camshafts and valve train. Oil leaking from this gasket is extremely common in Malaysia — especially on engines with over 80,000 km, due to heat cycling degrading the rubber seal.
How to tell if your rocker gasket is leaking
- Oil stain or crust on top of the engine, especially along the edges of the rocker cover
- Burning oil smell — when leaking oil drips onto the exhaust manifold below
- Oil level dropping faster than normal without any visible puddle under the car
- Spark plug well filled with oil (common on BMW, Toyota, and Honda DOHC engines)
Repair cost — one of the more affordable fixes
Rocker cover gasket replacement at 4M Car Care: RM 150–450 for most Japanese and national cars; RM 300–800 for European cars (more disassembly required). The gasket itself is inexpensive — labour is the main cost.
Do not delay this repair. Oil leaking onto hot exhaust components is a fire risk. Oil reaching ignition leads or coil-on-plug coils causes misfires — turning a cheap fix into an expensive one.
